This project involved repairing extensive concrete spalling in the slab and a major transfer beam caused by long-term exposure to a corrosive pool environment. The design included modelling loads from the existing building and columns to locate temporary supports to ensure the stability of the transfer beam and pool deck during partial demolition and reconstruction. Remediation works involved removing damaged concrete, cleaning or replacing corroded reinforcement, applying corrosion inhibitors, and reinstating the concrete with suitable repair mortar. The works were successfully completed, restoring the pool deck’s structural integrity and enabling pool replacement to proceed.
